Temperatures are tumbling and flurries are flying yet the sky is widening, as if opening up its majestic arms to welcome a reconditioned season for a warm winter hug.
Beneath this unfolding fuss, a single slender tree stands silent, as the gloaming autumn surrenders itself to the jabbering yaff of true chilling frost.

the starkness of the bare tree juxtaposes well with the sunset shades. the words complement the picture beautifully.

Now there’s a new word for me – yaff. And I shall be using it; it’s such a good word!

I like this strong, little tree. Reminds me of Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree 🙂

I went completely the opposite direction than you did. I see the other trees, barely hanging on to life, Autumnal (I told you I like that word) zombies in frozen pursuit of the lone escapee whom attempts to flee into winter’s harbor. The winter haven where the lone survivor can plot a furious last ditch effort to be an individual against the Stepford Wife’s odds, in the hibernation sleep that offers hopeful dreams of resignation.
